Job description generator

Turn your role details into a ready-to-post job ad. Add the company and job title, choose a style and length, and Lisa, the AI recruiter inside Alfa, writes it.

Fill in the details and your job ad will appear here.

What the job description generator does

It writes the public job description that candidates read, often called a job ad, ready to post on a job board or careers page. You give it the company name, the job title and any details you have. It returns a structured ad: an opening, what the role involves, the requirements, pay, benefits and location you supplied, and how to apply.

It is free to use, and you do not need an Alfa AI account.

How it works

  1. Add the essentials

Company name and job title are required. Everything else is optional: a company description, essential and bonus requirements, location, work setup, salary and benefits. Work setup is left out of the ad unless you choose hybrid, remote or on-site.

  2. Choose a style and length

Style sets the tone: balanced, formal, casual or enthusiastic. Length sets the size: short is two or three paragraphs, balanced is four to six and long is six to eight.

  3. Lisa writes the ad

She is instructed to use only the facts you entered, so benefits, values or career paths you did not mention stay out. She is also instructed to write inclusively and to drop age-coded wording such as "digital native" while keeping the skill behind it.

  4. Copy and post

Copy the ad, check it and paste it into your job board, careers page or applicant tracking system.

Example job ad

An example for a fictional company, using the short length and balanced style. Your ad will differ with your inputs.

Limits to know

  • It only knows what you tell it. With just a company name and job title, the description of the work is general and based on the title alone. Add your requirements, pay and benefits for a specific ad.
  • Check every fact before you post, especially pay, location and requirements. Like any AI writing, the ad can contain mistakes.
  • When your location and work setup disagree, for example a remote role that also asks for office days, the tool is instructed to say the arrangement needs confirming instead of picking one.
  • It writes in English with American spelling.
  • The copy button gives you Markdown text. If your job board does not format Markdown, remove the Markdown markers, such as # and **, after pasting.
  • Your ad is not saved. Copy it before you leave the page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a job description and a job ad?

Many employers use the terms interchangeably and call the posted ad a job description. Strictly, a job description is an internal document that sets out the duties, responsibilities and requirements of a role. A job ad is the public version, written to attract applicants: it is shorter and focuses on the role, what the employer offers and how to apply. This generator writes the public version candidates read. If you have an internal job description, it is a good source for the requirements.

Is the job description generator free?

Yes. It is free and you do not need an account. Usage is rate limited to keep it fast for everyone, so if a request fails, wait a few minutes and try again.

What should I include to get a better job ad?

Add the salary, the essential requirements, the benefits, and the location and work setup. The tool uses only what you enter, so the more specific your inputs, the more specific the ad.

Will the AI make up details about my company?

It is instructed to use only the details you enter and to leave out anything you did not supply, such as benefits, company values or career progression. Read the ad before you post it, as you would any AI-written text.

Can I change the tone or length?

Yes. Choose a style (balanced, formal, casual or enthusiastic) and a length (short, balanced or long), then generate the ad again.

Does it write inclusive job ads?

It is instructed to use inclusive language and to drop age-coded wording such as "digital native" or "recent graduate", keeping the skill behind it. It does not check the ad against employment law, so review it against your own policies.
